Dr Stacey Pizzino is a public health professional at the University of Queensland with expertise in the health consequences of extreme events, including armed conflict, disasters, and climate change. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between research and policy, fostering collaboration between researchers, governments, UN agencies, and civil society.
Key achievements include leading the world’s largest epidemiological study of over 100,000 casualties from landmines and explosive ordnance across 17 countries, presenting at the United Nations on evidence-based decision-making and the rights of survivors, and championing bidirectional partnerships for sustainable health solutions.
Her background as a paramedic informs her international collaborations across academia and industry. As co-editor she also recently completed the second edition of a leading disaster health management text for the Asia-Pacific region.
